The news that came from the sailing club was unequivocal - weather warning.
Not wanting to find myself at sea - literally - I cancelled everything and have just about managed to put a wash on, get dressed, showered and have breakfast - it is 2pm before any one thinks I am smug in any way shape or form. Soon enough my trusty Mac book pro was beckoning me - to find out ‘Another Angry Voice’ is on Substack and that I really ought to send the gift subscriptions to the gluten-free recipe site I have found on here and actually think is pretty good to my friends.
A few days a go it did seem likely that it was going to get choppy, I discovered myself in a sea of roses - really - only round here - and they smell divine - as the wind whirled through the scented blooms I trailed round the field full like a demented camera person given weeks to live, so it seemed to me anyway. Maybe it is normal in some circumstances
The best variety I found is called ‘English Miss’ - it is pink (of course).
Other dispatches are fairly thin on the ground, probably a good thing all in given the state of the world. I attempted to go and see ‘A Man Called Otto’ at the cinema on Friday on my own but it seemed as if the organisers were even more disaster-prone than yours truly and we were offered our money back as they couldn't get the sound to work. I had a beer (here for the beer - really) and it was all feeling quite civilised - a success of a soirée if you like - I may try a matinee another time. They have given us all a credit written on the back of our tickets - so fancy (in three colours, black, white and red) I would have been disappointed to surrender mine. They are practically museum pieces. I shall dash of this mail and apply myself to a late lunch - I have some nice new potatoes so am not starving today and the people I popped round to see on the way back from the cinema were relived when I laid claim to actually cooking, preparing and eating a proper meal before I went out. Cost of living crisis etc etc.
Much love,

" English Miss " doesn't look like a traditional rose, but " a rose by any other name , etc., etc...... "
I prefer succulents because they're SURVIVORS, although I have other plants. I've always wanted a Japanese bonsai, although I'm sure that the genuine articles would be as expensive as a katana sword BTW - I have a katana, but it's not vintage, the genuine articles are usually heirlooms / museum pieces & likely not in my price range. My place resembles a closet in the Smithsonian Institution. Tektites ( meteoritic fragments fused with terrestrial soil ) sharing space with Roman coins & Egyptian servant figurines meant for tombs, along with Tibetan prayer beads.
Have enjoyed your missives. My wife and I subscribed BritBox for the older detective shows. When I read Work In Progress (comments are turned off for that one) it reminded of the Rosemary & Thyme show.
